This recent report documents how artificial intelligence has advanced to the degree that a robot has been able to pass a medical licensing exam in China. Already many centers use robotics (controlled by humans) to assist with surgery. Already patients and providers use the internet to find answers, sometimes good answers sometimes not so much. I believe the human element of intelligence and compassion must always remain central. As with any other tool we have, how we use it is critical.
